The Internet computer network that provides service with e-mail and also services based on Web, is by many believed to be the actual WWW.

It is a confusion that must be clarified from the beginning. The Web is much better known as WWW (World Wide Web). This service has emerged as a necessity and reached a tremendous expansion. The WWW is a collection of documents that have links between them. Each document is a Web page, and the pages can be linked together. Each Web page is actually a special file, resident on a site (for simplicity, you will say that a folder of your hard disk gets to a server connected to the Internet, where it is in fact your site). Various Web pages contain information, linked pages, which means the user has access to large amounts of information. The pages are created by users and the number of those who enter the information system and the variety of this information is very high.

The user can choose a page link to another page with information. The selection is made using a specialized language called HTML (Hyper Text Makeup Language). The information contained in Web pages is scientific, technical, cultural, educational and allows the access of any user who is connected to the network. This service also offers an access to facilities of other programs (in fact they are downloaded from the Internet and delivered to you also through a button called “Download”). All the information available can be read and memorized by users, and only then a Web page reaches its goal.

The Web pages contain text, images, graphics and sounds, more than they can contain animation. Those seeking information on the Internet are called “surfers” (by analogy with the sport that has that name). Very large volume of information is easily accessible in any place where there is an Internet connection. Its developments in the field of electronic shopping, makes the customer to walk through a shop (not physically though), to choose their merchandise and put it in the basket, and then buy that product.

You can try this system by going to an online shop. The payment must be made via a business card. In advanced systems, the payment is made by electronic means of payment, these systems requiring special measures to identify the existence of the credit card issuer.

The user can access the information through several methods: the simplest is when you know where the requested information is, although this is most unlikely these days. In most cases, the user knows what he is looking for, but does not know where that information is located. In this case, the search engines have been introduced. The search engines are programs that, based on the information entered by the user, will search the web servers and deliver the Websites containing the required information.11
